About The Photographer

Nicole Schultz

A camera has been in my hands as long as horses have been in my life…

Since my start with photography, I have lifted my camera to grab the shot that, as an equestrian, I would be thrilled to have. The approach up to the final fence, the floaty trot out of a courtesy circle, and the final thank you to your horse after a memorable round. Starting out young with so much ambition, I have allowed myself to grow as a photographer these last few years. While learning alongside others, I have been able to create my own style that I want my work to showcase. By bringing both light and authentic moments together, I can assure you that you will receive images that are unique to you. My goal is to harness the raw emotion of the bond we share with our equine partners into a timeless image.

Taking from my own experiences as a rider and horse owner, I connect with my clients through raw and emotional moments. Whether my client is jumping off in the low adults or jumping clear for their country in prestigious events, I am there cheering on from behind my camera, capturing memorable moments we look back on years later. Horses will always be my why and the storyline of my photography journey. Photography started for me by selling burned CDs at the local schooling show as a way to afford my show bills, and now I travel across the United States to shows I only ever dreamed about. I am blessed to have found my calling at such an early age and to have been given opportunities to grow with it.

Growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, in a household that didn’t have the funds for horses, I learned quickly what hard work and devotion could be rewarded with. I was fortunate enough to have a local barn and a beloved riding instructor who gave me many riding opportunities in exchange for my photography skills. Turning a side gig into a full-time business was always the dream. Photography opened doors I never knew were possible. I turned my passion for creating into a business that allowed me to always have horses in my life and to eventually own my heart horse. Every horse show I travel to is a reminder to my younger self to never give up on the dream. Every client and their horse I get to photograph is a chance for me to create images that I would have treasured for a lifetime with my childhood horse.

I call Wellington, Florida, home and base myself there. From November through April, you will find me either at the barn riding or at Wellington International standing ringside, photographing my clients competing. In the summer months, I am traveling wherever the hunter-jumper circuit may take me. Annually, I make visits to Lexington, Kentucky; Tryon, North Carolina; and Traverse City, Michigan. I am always booking horse and rider portrait sessions in Florida and making visits to anywhere in the United States to meet other equestrians and photograph them and their horses at their barns.

My creative bursts come alive when I am photographing a horse and their rider at golden hour, when the light is filtering through the trees behind them and the sun is glowing around us. Whether your horse lives in the Taj Mahal or your back yard, I photograph anyone and everyone whose horse is their entire world.
